The Story Behind Pickle Choppers
It all began 3 years ago with a group of around 12 people who attended a pickleball taster session held at Westland Sports Centre in Yeovil.
Yeovil town is known for its helicopter building industry, hence the club being named Pickle Choppers. With sponsorship from John Cornick Motors and Seepex and the donation of paddles from Tustin Hills Pickleball Club in California, the club rapidly grew.
As a result, it moved to Sherborne where the club now enjoys playing on 8 courts. Last year, our membership peaked at over 80.
Our players range from those interested in social play, to competing in a range of compeitions, including the English Open.
Pickle Choppers was born from the idea that sports should be social first. We’ve grown from a small group into a thriving, energetic collective that welcomes everyone.
